Weddings overseas

Destination Weddings – What You Need To Know Before You Book Your Flight

Destination weddings are a much cooler trend than the princess marriages dreamed up by previous generations. A destination wedding allows the bridal party, friends and family to celebrate the union in a retreat atmosphere, enjoying plenty of social time before and after the ceremony in an exotic location. There are practical considerations, though, when it comes to planning a wedding far from home. Legal requirements, licensing and budget concerns scare some couples away, but these can be managed fairly easily with a little research.

Legal recognition in the couple’s home country is probably the most important consideration when planning a destination wedding. Make sure that the local government will acknowledge the union, even though the ceremony took place elsewhere. At worst, a couple can still have their dream wedding, albeit with a quick stop with the local authorities for an “official” marriage later.

Residency restrictions at the destination may be an important consideration, as well as mandatory waiting periods following a divorce. In St. Maarten, for example, brides must wait at least 306 days after their divorce in order to remarry. Some countries and U.S. States require a couple to be residents of the state for a certain period of time before the ceremony. It’s important to research the legal residency requirements and waiting periods, if applicable, before setting a date for a marriage abroad. If you need to lose some weight have a look at a lipofuze review to see if it can get you into shape.

Couples should also plan far enough in advance to be sure guests are able to schedule travel and accommodations. If it’s important to have everyone at the same hotel, ask about reserving a block of rooms for the party. Often, this can mean that the bridal suite is complimentary, or that guests get access to a banquet room or even dinner for free. If the hotel doesn’t mention any kind of incentive, ask about the options available.

Health requirements are also important. Some countries require visitors to prove immunity to certain diseases, via immunizations. When traveling to a new area, couples are faced with unfamiliar bacteria, germs and viruses that their bodies may not have developed immunity against yet. Their home country may also require that travelers returning from a certain destination be free of symptoms or proven immune.

Budgeting for a destination wedding is often the easy part, depending upon currency exchange rates. A wedding abroad may be less expensive than having one in the states. Be sure that guests are aware of currency exchange rates, as well. But legal and health restrictions and an awareness of guests’ travel planning requirements are the most important considerations for planning a destination wedding.

Disney honeymoon

Walt Disney World for Couples: The Perfect Honeymoon Destination

When you ask most people about what they think of a Disney World vacation they say that it is the perfect place for families with young children. But the Disney World Resort offer so much more and is the perfect destination for young and old alike, and even for couples on their honeymoon.

My husband and I were lucky enough to Disneymoon (that’s a Disney Honeymoon) at the Disney World Resort. After undertaking hormonal acne treatment before the wedding I was perfectly prepared for a glam time. It has the perfect mix of fun and romance making it perfect for a romantic getaway.

1. Where to stay

The Resort has numerous resorts so there are plenty of options to choose from. If you’re looking for romance then you’ll want to choose a Moderate or Deluxe Resort.

My husband and I chose the Animal Kingdom Lodge which really was the perfect place to getaway. We spent many a quiet hour sitting on a rocking chair on the balcony watching the animals just roam the savanna. It’s an extremely peaceful hotel and you feel like you’ve been whisked off to Africa.

Other romantic resorts include the Polynesian with it’s white sandy beaches and hammocks just perfect for lazing in, and for the ultimate in grandeur the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, for that turn of the century elegance you just wouldn’t expect to find.

2. Where to eat

There are more than 100 restaurants to choose from on Disney property and some of them are extremely romantic. How about dining at the California Grill atop Disney’s Contemporary Resort? Time it right and you can watch the Wishes fireworks spectacular bursting over Cinderella Castle as you linger over food which is just as amazing as the view.

For unparalleled charm and elegance put on your best dinner jacket and dress and head over to Victoria & Albert’s at the Grand Floridian. Your intimate two hour dining experience comes complete with butler service and personalised menus for a truly unforgettable evening.

3. Where to find romance by day

If you are on your honeymoon then make sure you pick up your bride and groom buttons from Guest Services. My husband and I also splashed out on Bride and Groom Mickey ears. The reception we got from both Cast Members and guests was truly touching as people stopped to offer us their congratulations.

Experience the magic of the Wishes fireworks display at the Magic Kingdom or Illuminations over at Epcot for a romantic evening activity.

You might also enjoy finding yourself a bench in the Rose Garden by the Castle, or a rocking chair over in Liberty Square and just whiling away the hours watching the world go by.

You’ll find so much fun and romance at the Walt Disney World Resort that you’ll soon find yourself planning a return trip for your anniversary.

Travel cover

The last time I went on holiday, the trip dates coincided with the date of my car insurance renewal, and I had forgotten about this until the last minute. That is noty a smart thing to do as you can end up paying way over the top. The best thing is to look around and compare the best auto insurance online.Fortunately I was advised of a small delay to my flight, so I did a quick check online.  My existing insurance company wanted to raise the premium by nearly ten per cent even though I have not claimed for several years.  Luckily I discovered a company that was prepared to give the same cover for nearly fifteen per cent less than my last year’s premium.  That amount of saving paid for a nice meal on the first night of my holiday, so I was pretty pleased with the arrangement.

Aussie driving tips

Tips for Hitting the Amazing Australian Road

Few places in the world offer the rugged beauty and breathtaking sights of the Australian Outback. To truly experience it, tourists must leave the big cities behind and hit the open road. This prospect, however, requires the right tips and tricks to ensure a safe and memorable vacation.

Roadways in the Outback are not always the highways Americans expect. In fact, it is not uncommon to find nothing but gravel roads for miles and miles. Although often well maintained, these roads can demand the use of four-wheel drive vehicles to ensure safe passage. It is also not uncommon for some Outback roadways to wash out in the rainy season, which runs from November to April. This makes advanced preparation and planning even more essential. Read more »

York city hotels

The Top Hotels in York City Centre

York is situated in picturesque North Yorkshire where the lure of its historic architecture as well as modern day sporting and cultural entertainment are adequately strong to attract numerous holidaymakers. Located along age old Roman walls and featuring Tudor style architecture and Gothic buildings galore, York is a whirlwind of sights, sounds and colors. There are a number of hotels in York city centre from where to being your adventure.

Whether tourists are singling out Clifford’s Tower or look forward to a stroll along the narrow cobble stone street known as the Shambles, locals and tourists alike cannot help but become captivated by their destination. Of course, after a long day on your feet, resting up at one of the best five hotels in York is a splendid way of ending the day.

The Bishops York on Holgate Road is the most famous among hotels in york city centre. Owned and operated by Deborah and Marco Gabbiadini, Bishops offers up to date amenities against a backdrop of old world charm. Free tourist guides, a child friendly menu, WiFi, and even the opportunity to have a restaurant booked for you before you arrive, are all part and parcel of the experience.

Another one of the hotels in York city centre visitors cannot miss is Lady Anne Middleton’s Hotel. Owned and operated by the Clark family, tourists, who are frequently rendered speechless by the venue, may find this located on Skeldergate, where it infuses any holiday with a magnificent historically accurate restoration. Only 54 rooms allow for personal attention to each guest.

When it comes to York hotels that combine remnants of the Roman presence with post modern style, Hotel 53 is the name that pops up. At 53 Piccadilly, the address virtually guarantees style and elegance, but only a stay at this 100 room hotel can really provide the hands-on experience of minimalism complemented with luxury comfort.

Guests, who want to turn their frequent flyer points into hotel stays, might opt for one of the hotel chains in York. There is the 99 room Best Western Monkbar Hotel that received the York Tourism Award in 2009.

Another option in the same chain is the Best Western Kilima Hotel at 129 Holgate Road, where visitors enjoy the ambience of a former rectory as their abode while on holiday.

Travelers deciding to take a holiday in York when the Theatre Royal puts on its famous pantomime should plan on booking their accommodation early. Shopping in this historic town is excellent, with a specialist shop selling skinny ties as well as other niche boutiques. This performance brings out seasoned fans and newly curious theatre visitors from far and wide, and hotels in york city centre are likely filled to the rafters as a result.
