Camp developments
The economic recession and its aftermath has caused a lot of changes in the way we plan our vacations and short breaks. Low budget and all-inclusive stays are experiencing a good season, as are economy holiday camps. Apart from these, there is really a whole new sector emerging – known here in the UK as ‘glamping’. This is for people who are not entirely broke, but they enjoy buying their own camping tents, especially for visiting music festivals during the Summer months. They tend to buy plenty of rather luxurious camping gear, to make their camping stay very comfortable. These groups arrive in expensive 4 x 4 vehicles and cook lovely meals on their camping stoves and take plenty of home comforts for an enjoyable evening. As long as the weather stays fair, they have a great time, and if it does rain they can always afford to escape to a nearby bed and breakfast – as long as their friends at home don’t find out.
