When in Rome do as any upstanding roman would; stay at the Savoy Hotel Rome. After a completely relaxing three day stay at the luxurious Savoy Hotel you will have nothing but positive things to say. The location is perfect and the amenities are top notch. But wait…there’s more.

The Savoy Hotel is right smack in the middle of Rome.

The Hotel Savoy is in the center of Rome just off via Veneto and a heartbeat away from the Villa Borghese gardens, Museum Borghese, Piazza di Spagna, and the amazing Trevi Fountains. All major cultural features and attractions as well as the tourist “sites to see” are nearby. It is within a football toss of one of Italy’s most famous shopping centers, the Spanish Steps .

Whether you’re looking for a hotel close to historic Rome or the new, trendy sights, the Savoy Hotel in Rome is more than adequate.

What the Hotel Savoy Has to Offer.

The Hotel itself is magnifico; it is a traditional and recently renovated historic hotel. The elegant décor does nothing but compliment its modern amenities and facilities. Each of the 135 rooms have been classically styled, and are extremely comfortable- equipped with satellite television, mini bar, as well as air conditioning.

Dine in style high atop the city of Rome at the rooftop gardens and restaurant of the Savoy Hotel, which offers a panoramic view of the entire city. Enjoy the splendid view of the heavens and stars as Caesar himself once did, all in the comfort of your hotel. Want to enjoy the nightlife of Rome? Hotel Savoy is within walking distance of many of Rome’s most popular bars and night clubs.

Is the Hotel Savoy In Rome Out Of My Price Range?

As far as affordability, the Hotel Savoy is not the cheapest hotel in Rome, but it is also not the most expensive. You get exactly what you pay for when staying at the Savoy.

Expect to spend about 350 Euros (493 U.S. dollars) for a single room, one night stay. Extravagant…maybe, but trust me when I say it is worth every penny.

Every now and then the Savoy Hotel will present opportunities for travelers to save money. One promotion that is offered is for a minimum two -nights stay; for a rate of 160 Euros (226 U.S. dollars) per night. If you’re lucky enough to come across this promotion, take it, as it will not last long.

Expect VIP service upon arrival, including quick room check-in and a buffet style breakfast. The price does vary per room, whether you require a single, double, or triple room but still maintains an affordable rate.

For a central location, beautiful surroundings, excellent culture, and for some, a very affordable price, you can’t go wrong with the Savoy Hotel in Rome.

————————

If you are spending Christmas in Rome you be looking to visit from just before Christmas itself and up until January 6th. During this time there are Christmas Trees, lights and festive decorations. During Christmas you will find that some of the wonderful traditions from the past happening even today.

Christmas Past and Present

In the past you would find that a man named Father Christmas visited children and gave them presents on New Years Day the day for celebrating Basil. Another past tradition still help today is where carolers will go around spreading good cheer to all those they meet. The Christmas dinner is another tradition that has made it through time, and you will find that most tables have either turkey or pork and delectable desserts like kourabies and melomakarona decorating them.

Differences from a Christmas in Rome and one you might be used to

Christmas is very much celebrated in Rome but it is not the same holiday you might know or remember. In Rome family is what Christmas is all about and not friends, people you know or those you work with. This is a time for the Traditional Fish and Tortellini to spread around and eaten, followed with a glass of bubbly spumante.

Where to go during a Christmas Break in Rome

Some might wonder what to do while on their Chrsitmas Vacation in Rome but many of the things you would do through out the rest of the year can be enjoyed during this time as well. With the Old Rome history such as the Colosseum, Capitoline Hill, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Roman Forum, and Trevi Fountain near by and in all of the ancient glory. Or something more modern with a tour of Rome at night through the old parts and the Trastevere also you cannot forget The Jewish Ghetto.

You will also want to visit some of the quaint and festively decorated stands and shops in Rome. During this time the culture and history of Rome cannot only be seen but felt in each step you take. All around you the smells and flavors of the Holiday can be felt and experienced. Although you might want to bring a few extra dollars for those impromptu gifts and trinkets, you should also bring a healthy appetite to savor and enjoy all of the wonderfully flavored foods.

Christmas in Rome can be an unforgettable experience if you let it happen.

Copyright © 2010 Travelog. Visit the original article at http://www.travel-cheap-world.org/california-delta-vacations/.

California Delta is water recreation paradise

First-time California visitors traveling southbound on the freeway sometimes are taken aback when, just about the time they reach Stockton, they see a big ocean-going freighter that seems a little like a whale swimming in your local river. After driving hundreds of miles down California’s hot, dry interior, it just doesn’t compute that there should be a ship anywhere even close.
Yet ships do call on Stockton – and have for decades – as they make their way to the state’s interior through an intricate set of waterways sometimes called the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta or the Sacramento Delta, or just the California Delta. The point is it’s a delta not unlike what you see in the Deep South and, in fact, there are some surprising connections between Louisiana and the California Delta. Anyone who has visited Isleton for its famous Crawdad Festival can testify to that.

It’s also eerily similar to the rural roads and towns near New Orleans where levees keep the river from flooding the countryside. In this case it’s not the Mississippi that you worry about but the confluence of the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers that creates a water system carrying 47 percent of California’s water runoff. Most of the land of the inner Delta is below sea level, generally between 21 and three feet below.

Parched residents of California’s San Joaquin Valley are not about to let all that water go to waste and so what has developed over the decades is a vibrant water recreation area with dozens of marinas, interesting small towns and a network of canals, roads and bridges that makes visitors in this part of the state almost entirely dependent on GPS devices — or at least a good set of old-fashioned road maps.

The Delta region is comprised of 738,000 acres in six counties, so you could seemingly wander around in there for years without finding a way out. That’s especially true if you’re navigating a houseboat – as we once did – where relying on your navigation charts is the only way to be sure you’ll ever be heard from again.

But that, of course, is the appeal of the California Delta. For those visitors with a little wanderlust, it’s easy to get to the Delta from the San Francisco Bay area. After all, one of the Delta’s largest cities, Antioch, is comprised largely of people who live in the Delta region and commute daily to San Francisco. From there you just cross a bridge and all of a sudden you’re driving on lonely two-lane roads skirting the canals and levees, turning every which way until, voila, there’s another little town to explore and check off your list.

On our most recent trip to the Delta we decided we’d spend the night in some rather unusual “waterfront” accommodations: a 40-foot Bluewater yacht with its own dock, located at the confluence of Georgiana Slough and the Mokelumne River. The Dockside Boatel has an Isleton address, but this is one of the places you’ll want to call for directions. The owner will be happy to give them to you and will be there to greet you because she lives in a house just a few yards onshore from the dock.

This was a great base of operations for forays into the Delta region and an excellent choice if you love being dockside and enjoy the sounds and slight wave action of the water. We had the dock to ourselves and there are two chairs on the dock perfect for fishing, reading the paper, watching the sunset or just overall taking in the sights and sounds of the Delta tributaries.

A 40-foot boat is a good-sized boat and a chance for non-boaters to sample what it would be like to have a large boat for regular getaways. You’re not going to drive this boat anywhere because it’s being rented as a floating bed-and-breakfast inn, but it’s no more costly than staying in a room at someone’s home. The boat has a parlor area, a galley (kitchen), a stateroom with two beds down below, a head (bathroom), and plenty of space out on the aft deck for sitting. (Special note to landlubbers: as boaters know, heads can be a little temperamental and this one is no exception).

Breakfast is delivered to your door at whatever time you prefer, and ours was a well-prepared hearty combination of French toast, sausage, eggs and two kinds of juices. We were impressed with the quantity of food for what we considered a nominal nightly rental rate. Lower priced B and B’s are more apt to give you a cinnamon roll and send you on your way, laving you in need of diet supplements for the rest of the day.

While there are several small towns within easy driving distance, we especially enjoyed Isleton, where you do start to get the connection with Louisiana. We’re told that Louisiana residents actually do come here to live and they seem to bring some of that Cajun spice right along with them. Check out the crawdads served at Isleton Joe’s or Ernie’s or, better yet, plan your trip for the Crawdad Festival each June. While you can catch crawdads in the Delta, thousands of crawdads are shipped in from Louisiana — pre-spiced — for the festival.

We drove many backroads in the Delta where we found numerous marinas, each with a restaurant and some variation of waterfront dining. There were state parks where it was easy to pull off and find a canal-front location to have a picnic. There were draw bridges that were great for photos. And t was fun to see the many variations of boats plying the inland waterways during our visit, including a 19th Century sailing ship that was offering rides from the Antioch Marina.

If you drive along Highway 60, you’ll encounter several different towns – Isleton, Rio Vista, Locke, Walnut Grove and Ryde – which will each give you a taste of life in the Delta region and of the history that created this unusual destination. Check out the restored Ryde Hotel, just south of Walnut Grove where you can almost hear the voices of the party-goers who once traveled here by sternwheeler. Or stop by Rio Vista, considered the biggest town in these parts with 5,000 people. This is Bass-fishing Central where the annual Bass Festival attracts 35,000.

We couldn’t leave the Delta without getting on a boat – a boat that actually moves, that is – so we dropped by H2O to Go Boat Rentals, located between the cities of Rio Vista and Lodi and rented our own 17-foot runabout for a couple of hours. This was a late-model (almost new, in fact) bowrider that sped us to several locations along the Delta waterways giving us an entirely new perspective of the Delta. Sure enough, we came upon one of those ocean freighters that was headed into Stockton. It was time again to freak out a few more of those travelers headed down the interstate.

AT A GLANCE

WHERE: The California Delta is generally located between Sacramento and Stockton and then southwest to Antioch or northwest to Suisun Bay. It’s easily accessed from all of those areas.

WHAT: The California Delta is where the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers converge to take runoff waters from the Central Valley through a channel to San Francisco Bay and then out to the Pacific Ocean. The area has several natural and man-made channels (or sloughs) that have the combined effect of creating a series of islands. The earthen levees in the area have allowed extensive farming throughout the Delta and boating in the Delta area feels like you are driving your boat through farmlands.

WHEN: Boating is best in the summer months, but a temperate climate allows recreation and travel in this area any time of the year.

WHY: The Delta’s waterways are fun to explore and the variety of towns, marinas, parks, lodgings and unique down-home restaurants adds to the overall appeal.

HOW: For more information on the Delta, contact the California Delta Chambers and Visitors Bureau at www.californiadelta.org or phone (916) 777-4041. For more information on the Delta’s Dockside Boatel, go to www.deltadocksideboatel.com or phone 510-919-2197. To learn more about boat rentals on the Delta, go to www.h20rents.com or phone 209-810-6755.

The first time I heard of friends staying in Dubai was probably two years ago. They told me there are plenty of Cheap Dubai Hotels to choose from, and the holiday worked out cheaper than a European destination – with more reliable weather. They got a good rates by using a new hotel booking site called cheaperthanhotels.com. This is a good destination for finding last minute discounts as well as the best rates at some of the World’s most expensive and exclusive hotels .

Some time ago I worked for an international company with offices in the Middle East so I knew quite a few Expats in United Arab Emirates UAE and they spoke highly of UAE as a placeto live and work, many of them really missed it when they had to return to their home country. Friends and family were able to visit cheaply by booking their rooms through cheaperthanhotels.

There is another new player – Abu Dhabi. Here again, the site has a big choice of Abu Dhabi Accommodation for business travellers and holidaymakers so the option of booking your air ticket and accommodation at good rates is a realistic one.

Your timeshare room will be 4 star Hotel standard - minimum

There Is No Reason Anyone Should Buy a Timeshare

Why the hell do people buy timeshares? I mean you pay anywhere from $5000 to $150,000 for these properties that you can only stay at 1 to 2 times yearly…oh and sometimes you can buy a fractional one and only be allowed to go there every other year! Then when you get sick of going to your new purchase probably after the 1st or 2nd year if you want to go somewhere else you have to pay a transfer fee to transfer your week so you can enjoy a new destination. On top of all that crap you have to pay a yearly maintenance fee for the ownership privilege that you “had to have”. Am I crazy or Am I missing something here? The only thing that you own are the bills!

What if there were a better way? By the sounds of it it doesn’t seem all that hard to make happen. Anyhow… I came across this company 2 months ago after researching online opportunities and home based businesses. They are the marketing arm of a 21 year old company (I can’t mention the name) that has been selling high priced memberships to luxury vacation resorts to the “well-off” people of the US, Canada and Mexico for, you guessed it…21 years. I say “well-off” because I thought rich or upper middle class or high class didn’t sound right…you get my drift? Let’s continue…these memberships would sell for $15,000-$25,000 depending on the type of resort quality that you wanted how many weeks you wanted per year etc. kind of like a timeshare right? In 1999 they opened it’s doors and revamped the way this company sold their memberships. The new cost for these memberships is now $1595 for a 3 year and $3095 for a LIFETIME membership. Drastically reducing the cost of this product and implementing a commission plan so people like you and me could afford something like this and allowing us to earn from selling other people this same high quality product. Not only earn but earn BIG. Each sale earns you $500 on the 3 year membership and $1000 on the life time membership!

They were able to drop the price so dramatically due to three reasons.

1. The ability to market this in such a way that the “company” sold hundreds of thousands more memberships due to the internet and it’s explosive growth.

2. They were able to sell these because it’s a high demand product and they do not waste cash on custom promotional products for their marketing efforts (who doesn’t want a vacation AND an inexpensive 5 star resort no less)

3. They turned ALL the buyers and users of this product into enthusiastic sellers and marketers due to the high commissions.

Lets do the math here. If you want to take your family on a week long vacation to a beach resort anywhere you are going to pay roughly $189 per night per room or maybe say $249 for a two bedroom that’s $1743 for the week one time! If you don’t want to get caught in the timeshare trap then do your research and for God sakes don’t buy a timeshare it’s only a big pain in the…

Thanks for reading,

So anyone running holiday accommodation should start sprucing the place up now!

The south west is a favourite with the Brits and overseas visitors alike, caravan holidays in Devon attract plenty of visitors from Germany and Holland. Make sure you choose your travel time carefully in peak season as the roads are very very busy!

For anyone who likes to take planty of luggage, going on holiday in a caravan in the UK makes a lot of sense. You can pack all your stuff in the van, hook it on to the car and off you go – no need to unpack at the other end, and your case is not going to be sent to the other side of the world without you.

The other group who are likely to be booking caravan holidays in the UK are dog owners. Once we got a dog ourselves we took all our holidays in the England, as a result we had a fantastic time in Devon. If we did not have a pet we would probably have gone abroad, and would never have discovered all the beautiful places in the West country. You do not need to have your own caravan, there are plenty of sites where you simply book a fixed mobile home for the length of your stay, just turn up and start enjoying the beautiful English countryside.

Have you ever wondered what makes Pattaya so popular with tourists? You might not have any idea if you have never been there, but some people who have visited this city quite a few times may be able to give the correct answer. What is the difference between an ordinary hotel and a resort hotel?

In fact in terms of the meaning and usage they are not much different, that is, they both refer to accommodation for tourists. However, a resort hotel may have additional features such as a beautiful garden or open-air spaces where guests can enjoy the natural environment.

The usual type of hotel accommodation tends to be a building in a city area where there is generally nothing other than a small garden or green space available for the guests to enjoy, if at all. A resort hotel is more likely to mean accommodation that is located in the mountains or woods where tourists or travelers can fully enjoy their environment. Because of this travelers tend to prefer to look for a resort hotel with features like Kohler sinks, rather than an ordinary hotel which is simply a building and nothing else. Especially so if they are not on business trips which would most likely involve a stay in the city center.

Pattaya is a small and lovely city in the eastern region of Thailand. It is a small city that is popular with tourists because of its beautiful beaches and nightlife. There are also ordinary hotels and resort hotels available in this city. However, as most of the area of the city is urban area, it is quite rare to see large resort hotels in the city center. However, if you are planning to visit this city, there are some beautiful resort hotels that you could stay in, but you may have to hurry because they normally have full booking in the high season.

Even though it is quite hard for you to find large resort hotels in Pattaya, there are nevertheless some other hotels that have improved their surroundings and transformed their facilities into a resort. One of the good examples is the hotel called Cabbages and Condoms Resort which I visited last year. I booked this hotel through a hotel booking website for quite a reasonable price and the hotel’s service is really impressive.

Booking a hotel in Pattaya is really very easy. It is quite surprising that I can see many of the travel agents in my country offering a hotel booking service for this city. Even though it is just a small city in a small country, the tourism market is very competitive. Therefore, many of the hotel booking website owners try to make a deal with local agents or directly with the hotels or resorts to offer competitive prices to the customers.

In summary, if you are planning to visit Thailand and Pattaya, it is very important to get the right information about hotel accommodation. If you are planning a business trip, it might not be so complicated because there are a lot of ordinary hotels in the city.

Visit the original article at http://www.travel-cheap-world.org/hotel-rooms-half-price/.

Booking half price hotel rooms
Here is an easy method for booking a hotel room at the best rate: half price hotels can literally be yours when you choose the best time to book a hotel room. By shopping around online and offline, you can find the hotels that are looking to do a deal on the room rate, and sometimes this means you can book a great hotel room for less than half the regular advertised rate. Read on for your step by step guide to staying at the best hotels at half price. If you are in a rush, get HotelsCombined.com to compare 30+ travel sites at once for you.

1. Orbitz and other price comparison sites – First research hotels on Orbitz (or whatever traditional booking system you prefer: Expedia, Travelocity, or Hotels.com etc. I will use Orbitz as the example for simplicity.

2. Hotwire Secrets – Next, go to Hotwire.com (US only – otherwise go to step 3) to see if there is a nicely priced property in comparison to what you found on Orbitz. Hotwire does not show you the property name, but it does give you the price, the general location, star rating, and amenities. The prices on hotwire are sometimes as much as 40% off the best price you will find elsewhere. Unfortunately, the savings can be close to nothing. Yesterday, I booked a hotel in Denver. The best price on Orbitz was $86. I got it for $57 on Hotwire. That’s a 30% discount. Not bad.

3. Priceline – But don’t stop there. Next, go to Priceline.com and offer a rate about 20% lower than the best price on Hotwire – using the same location and star rating. With Priceline YOU name the price for a given star ratings. You might want to check out bidding support sites for some help in your bidding (I don’t bother). With Priceline, I have found hotels for 60 per cent off the Orbitz price. But don’t go too low, or your bid won’t be accepted and you won’t be able to re-bid the same star rating and location (for a period of time). I found that Priceline is consistently the least expensive option, if your bid is accepted.

4. Bid on a Hotel Room – If your bid is not accepted, you have a couple of options. You can go through this process again for a different location or star rating. Or you can just go back to Hotwire for the purchase.

5. Research Hotwire a bit further to get a clearer picture of which hotel you might get. Go back to Orbitz and enter the search criteria. Click on the “Expand search options” link and check off the amenities listed on the Hotwire property of interest. You should end up with a relatively short list (often only one or two properties) that match. This will give you a decent idea of which property you might get on Hotwire.com. Remember, Hotwire tends to give you mainly major hotel chains like Hilton, Radisson, Holiday Inn and the likes.

6. Unless you find a desirable property at a large discount on Hotwire, you may want to consider booking the tradition route.

7. Check prices on the Hotel Website – But before booking on Orbitz, go to the hotel website for the chain. If you are thinking about booking with Best Western, go to their website and search. If the price is the same (or better), I usually book through the chain website as they typically have better cancellation policies and more generous rewards programs. Be sure to see if a AAA discount applies. Always double check the cancellation policies.

8. Before making your final decision, you may want to check other websites, such as sidestep.com which claims to search over 100 travel sites with one click.

9. Finally, book your room and enjoy your stay!

Get Maximum Value from Your Hotel Stay
Once you have secured your room at the best rate possible, make sure to get the most from the deal by avoiding the hidden costs that suckers pay.

The smartest strategy is to choose the hotel with the best inclusive facilities and avoid paying any addon costs. The sophisticated consumer takes advantage of that, the naïve pay all the fees.

For example, you see an offer for a hotel room for $75 (which costs the hotel $100 to provide). The guy checking in behind you also rents a room, but will rack up $70 in fees from the minibar, the phone, WiFi charges and garage parking (all of which cost the hotel $20 to provide). You, on the other hand, were not tempted by the minibar and used your cellphone for calls and took public transport to the hotel. You also enjoyed all the hotel’s leisure facilities, free toiletries and buffet breakfast as part of your room rate. You checked whether WiFi was free before you made use of it. The other guy subsidized your room while you took full advantage of all the inclusive facilities.
Tips about Hotwire and Priceline
# When using these websites, if you stay in a hotel for several nights, it seems that the rate is determined by the highest rate for the period. So, if you are staying in a hotel Wed – Sun, you might get a better rate by booking Wed – Thurs (weekday pricing) separately from Fri – Sun (Weekend pricing). Using this approach, I saved 45% extra during the weekend. Had I booked Wed – Sun as one booking, I would have paid the higher weekday rate all four nights.

# It appears that the rate that the hotel gets paid by Hotwire is about $10 less than the price you pay (a couple of hotels accidentally printed the rate they received on my check-in documentation). I have used this to my advantage on a couple of occasions. If I want to extend my stay, I sometimes do this with the front desk and they have honored the even lower price ($10 below Hotwire.com). Don’t count on this though.

# Hotwire has a “double the difference” policy. If you find the same hotel on the same date sold elsewhere for less, they will refund double the difference. I only had this happen once and they promptly refunded the money. Be sure to read the terms and conditions for details and restrictions.

Caveats about Hotwire and Priceline
* You need to pay up-front, so if cash flow is an issue, take that into consideration. # A service fee is added, so consider the total cost (you are given these on the final page before confirming your purchase). An accurate comparison can be made between the total cost on these websites with the cost + tax on Orbitz. Unfortunately, you can’t always easily calculate the taxes on Orbitz.

Although the process might sound complicated, it does not take much time. And it can save you a bundle.
