Visit the original article at http://www.travel-cheap-world.org/disney-vacation-rentals/.

Disney Vacation Home Rentals versus Hotels – The Truth About Convenience

When it comes to convenience, do Disney home rentals really compare favourably to the more traditional option of staying in a hotel? Many people have used hotel accommodation for many years, and claim that as far as convenience is concerned, having someone serve up your food and make the beds each day is preferable to self-catering in a private home. However, most people who make these claims are unlikely to have investigated the idea of renting a private home near Disney World for their vacation, because in terms of convenience, there’s really no argument.

Let’s be clear – hotels offer a great service if you’re by yourself or just with a partner, but when you throw children into the equation, the whole thing becomes a different ball game. The overwhelming majority of people who visit Disney World in Orlando, travel with their children, and for this reason taking time to consider the benefits of renting one of the many private Disney home rentals available within 15 minutes of the theme park could make a great deal of difference.

But surely renting an Orlando vacation home for your family means doing all the cooking and tidying yourself? Isn’t that less convenient? It’s easy to think so, yet let’s take a look at the typical day during a family’s vacation at Disney World. In a hotel you all need to be up in good time to catch breakfast, which means organizing your family in an almost military fashion to ensure everyone is ready and decent. Like most people you’ll probably also want to spend a few minutes tidying up the room, making sure personal items are packed away before the cleaning staff come to make the beds and clean the bathroom.

After breakfast, which is anything you like as long as it’s already on the menu, it’s off for the day. Of course, there’s no option to stay in your room, and little to entice you to do so anyway. Towards the end of your day, the children will have wound themselves up into a frenzy of excitement, already planning for what they want to do tomorrow, but all you can think about is hurrying everyone along to make sure you don’t miss dinner at the hotel – after all, you’ve paid a fortune for it.

After dinner you get the chance to squeeze into your hotel room and make a whole cup of tea with the complimentary tea bag you’ve been given, while your children turn the whole room into a tornado of toys, clothes, gifts and any item not nailed to the floor, jumping up and down and making your blood pressure rival the heights of the hotel bill. Eventually you manage to cajole your children into bed, giving you the chance to sit in silence for a couple of hours with the lights off, making sure you don’t disturb them as you enjoy all the things you can do in silence with the lights off and your children a few feet away.

Convenient? Not necessarily. Perhaps if this sounds all too horribly familiar it’s time to consider the alternative, and discover what Disney home rentals have to offer. The one overall luxury which private vacation properties have is that they are private. This in itself offers a great deal in convenience. Imagine being able to wake up and get up when you feel like it. Breakfast can be whatever you choose, and eaten wherever you like – no need to get dressed and made up first. You can take any supplements like human growth hormone to the breakfast table. If your house looks a bit of a state – who cares? It’s only yourselves who’ll see it, so why not just relax, enjoy yourselves and head off out for the day.

Whilst at Disney World you won’t need to be in a hurry to leave. If you want to stay late to watch the fireworks and evening parades, you can do so. If you book in at a hotel, you’ll miss these extra treats. But Disney home rentals mean that you can take full advantage of what you’ve really come for – the activities, fun and adventures. When you’ve had enough, you have the luxury of being able to relax at home in a way that’s simply not possible at a hotel.

With your children wound up like springs, bursting with the excitement of the day, why not let them run around in the garden or have fun in the pool? Which is more convenient? Crammed up together in a single hotel room, or relaxing by your own pool with your children happily wearing themselves out and dinner whenever you feel like it? If you choose to eat out, you can, otherwise, you can eat what you like, when you like.

After the children have worn themselves out and settled down in their own bedrooms, you’re free to enjoy widescreen TV, games consoles, your own pool and spa, or simply relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. If you have older children then they may want a turn on the games console, DVD player or TV, but there’ll still be the pool, spa, patio – or bedroom with their own TV and DVD player.

So if you’re thinking of heading to Disney World, Orlando, and aren’t sure whether hotels or Disney home rentals offer the best in convenience, remember that a single room and a timetable can’t possibly offer more convenience than a private home and flexibility.

————————

Jersey, one of the Channel Islands in the English Channel (in contrast to Jersey, USA), is a small yet beautiful island, perfect for a short holiday.

The island itself is as far south as France (St. Malo is less than 4 miles away and visible on a clear day) and so whilst still part of the British empire it benefits from far better weather.

This weather means not only an ideal place for camping, beaches and outdoor persuits but also you will see a profusion of plants and animals not normally seen on mainland Britain. Most notable is the only British population of the Green Lizard, often nicknamed the Jersey Green Lizard for just this very reason. Reaching around a foot long, and the males possessing a bright blue throat they are certainly a wonderful (if rare) sight to behold. Red squirrels can still be seen here for the eagle-eyed and dolphins may often be seen during the summer months.

Talking of beaches, whilst the island only measures a few miles long there are beaches for all ocassions. Long, sandy beaches perfect for surfing, more protected “sun bather” beaches and wild rocky outcrops covered in breeding sea birds. There are even some caves that only appear at low tide.

You can arrive by ferry or plane as Jersey is well served by both a safe port at St. Helier or an airport on the west side of the island.

Escaping from the attractive but busy main town of St. Helier, venture to the northern half of the island for the “true” Jersey experience. Rolling fields filled with Jersey cows producing thick, delicious cream – you may need a slimming pill afterwards! Farmers’ fields green with the tops of Jersey Royals – the finest new potatoes around. Greenhouses filled with flame-red tomatoes. Foxglove-strewn laybys and meadows and the deep blue sea. There are also castles and fishing-boat filled coves to enjoy.

Jersey has a low national speed limit, plenty of narrow tracks and a “no caravan” rule making it a great place to walk or cycle, and an efficient local bus service covers the entire island. Exploring this small island is therefore safe, practical and incredibly good fun.

Other things to see here are the underground tunnels used by the Nazis during the war (the Channel Islands are as far north as the invasion got) and the world-famous Durrell Wildlife Preservation Trust (or just “Jersey Zoo”!). It was here that a small boy fell into the gorilla pit many years ago much to the shock of his parents. Alive, but scared, rather than being attacked, the boy was watched over and looked after by the gorillas until keepers were able to extract him safely.

Personally, I like to camp though there are plenty of hotels around (less self catering accomodation though) of an international standard. Being a tax haven, Jersey boasts rich businessmen, private jets and Ferraris making it a more British Monaco. English is spoken, they drive on the left and they use the pound. There is, however, a lovely “French” feel in the style of the houses, many French place names and in the excellent quality of food available here – especially the seafood.

The Channel Islands also consist of Guernsey, Alderney and Sark, all of which can be reached by one of the inter-island boat services in operation over the summer months and day trips to France from here are easy to arrange.

————————

Copyright © 2010 Travelog. Visit the original article at http://www.travel-cheap-world.org/timeshare-free-family-vacations/.

Does Timeshare Work?

I am not going to be one that simply knocks timeshare for the sake of doing so. I am sure it has some advantages; but I worry when I read “when you buy timeshare on the resale market, you are already ahead of the game, as used properties are significantly less expensive than new ones.” (Consider a Timeshare for your family Vacations, by David Chandler).

Writers on timeshare seem to agree that one is lucky to get 50 cents on the dollar with a resale. Some, very cynical about the benefits, say that the chances of timeshare sales-personnel buying into their own product is almost nil. Most categorically claim it is 0%. Not sure if this is quite the case, but people are becoming very disillusioned; no mistake about that. It has become expensive and there is no guarantee of being able to just take off at your specified week; and trust me swapping doesn’t always work. School holidays in various countries are different, and annual fees are on the increase.

Visiting Youtube was also an eye-opener; people who were once in the timeshare industry, and selling this product, openly speak against it. I am sure that if you can afford around $50 000 for a top week, you will have all the advantage and will be able to book and swap weeks.

But remember that you will then be paying very high monthly maintenance fees to cover overheads and office furniture, probably also a booking fee, and you are locked into one only week of the year. Of course if you are enormously wealthy and end up buying four or five or more weeks, that’s okay. But who’s got $100 000 for a couple of weeks?

Also, you will be locking into the resorts that particular company promotes; and only those. What if you wanted to visit a country not on their list? What if you wanted to send friends or family on a guest week somewhere? What if you simply could not afford the monthly maintenance fees or the annual fees? What if you didn’t have the money up front, and were offered the finance option that comes with every single timeshare purchase, but then realised you would have to pay around 17 percent finance charges?

All of these are major obstacles. I remember going to a timeshare presentation in Cape Town, South Africa, some years ago. I was shocked at their hard-sell tactics; they got our backs up against the wall, and simply could not take no for an answer. Now I realise why they were so desperate. The product simply does not give people what they want.

What if you found an option that did away with all the above disadvantages. Would you take a look? A company offering a lifetime membership at a fraction of the cost, with unlimited access fifty-two weeks of the year to thousands of resorts in 55 countries around the world. With no monthly maintenance fees or levies.

I know there is an alternative. Check it out, and think twice before selecting the timeshare option: a simple search will give you lots of evidence that people are looking for something far more flexible.

Your timeshare room will be 4 star Hotel standard - minimum

There Is No Reason Anyone Should Buy a Timeshare

Why the hell do people buy timeshares? I mean you pay anywhere from $5000 to $150,000 for these properties that you can only stay at 1 to 2 times yearly…oh and sometimes you can buy a fractional one and only be allowed to go there every other year! Then when you get sick of going to your new purchase probably after the 1st or 2nd year if you want to go somewhere else you have to pay a transfer fee to transfer your week so you can enjoy a new destination. On top of all that crap you have to pay a yearly maintenance fee for the ownership privilege that you “had to have”. Am I crazy or Am I missing something here? The only thing that you own are the bills!

What if there were a better way? By the sounds of it it doesn’t seem all that hard to make happen. Anyhow… I came across this company 2 months ago after researching online opportunities and home based businesses. They are the marketing arm of a 21 year old company (I can’t mention the name) that has been selling high priced memberships to luxury vacation resorts to the “well-off” people of the US, Canada and Mexico for, you guessed it…21 years. I say “well-off” because I thought rich or upper middle class or high class didn’t sound right…you get my drift? Let’s continue…these memberships would sell for $15,000-$25,000 depending on the type of resort quality that you wanted how many weeks you wanted per year etc. kind of like a timeshare right? In 1999 they opened it’s doors and revamped the way this company sold their memberships. The new cost for these memberships is now $1595 for a 3 year and $3095 for a LIFETIME membership. Drastically reducing the cost of this product and implementing a commission plan so people like you and me could afford something like this and allowing us to earn from selling other people this same high quality product. Not only earn but earn BIG. Each sale earns you $500 on the 3 year membership and $1000 on the life time membership!

They were able to drop the price so dramatically due to three reasons.

1. The ability to market this in such a way that the “company” sold hundreds of thousands more memberships due to the internet and it’s explosive growth.

2. They were able to sell these because it’s a high demand product and they do not waste cash on custom promotional products for their marketing efforts (who doesn’t want a vacation AND an inexpensive 5 star resort no less)

3. They turned ALL the buyers and users of this product into enthusiastic sellers and marketers due to the high commissions.

Lets do the math here. If you want to take your family on a week long vacation to a beach resort anywhere you are going to pay roughly $189 per night per room or maybe say $249 for a two bedroom that’s $1743 for the week one time! If you don’t want to get caught in the timeshare trap then do your research and for God sakes don’t buy a timeshare it’s only a big pain in the…

Thanks for reading,

In fact, the options are so many and so varied, it helps to have a very clear view of what you want to do and accomplish in the Perdido Key area before doing any research on gulf shore condos and certainly before making a reservation. Here are some things to consider:

Your Perdido Key rental decision should be influenced by who is vacationing with you. Family vacations are very different from romantic getaways, and many families prefer to stay in Perdido Key rentals near kid-friendly attractions like zoos, water parks and nature reserves.
On the other hand, if you’re taking a romantic interlude with your significant other, you may wish to reserve a Perdido Key rental that is farther away from such attractions and where fewer children are likely to be staying. Perdido Key also has an active art and cultural community, and the two of you may want to factor in proximity to museums, wine-tastings and other romantic activities when choosing a Perdido Key rental.

If you like to spend every waking minute of your trip actively pursuing recreation, then you will need to be sure that your Perdido Key rental offers or at least is in close proximity to convenient transportation, entertainment and possibly jetski rentals or deep-sea fishing operations. On the other hand, if you prefer a laid-back, day-long siesta in the sun with a cool beverage at hand and the gentle sound of the waves in the distance, you probably should book a gulf shore condo that is a little more off the beaten track. With Perdido Key’s many nature reserves and white-sand beaches, you should have many options to choose from.

Don’t forget to factor in the length of your Florida stay in a Perdido Key rental! Many property owners are willing to give you major discounts on gulf shores condo rentals if you are staying a month or longer in the area. If you plan to spend the winter in Gulf Shores, for example, make sure to ask about special rates on extended stays.

If you’re an early riser, then you won’t mind your Perdido Key rental being located on the ground level, where the noise from morning activities can be a little invasive. On the other hand, if you like to sleep late, be sure to request an upper level condo.

Choosing the right Perdido Key rental for you can have a major influence on how much you enjoy your stay, and also the types of experiences you encounter while you are in Perdido Key. Make sure that you check out all potential Perdido Key rentals online before reserving one, and that the local property manager can assure you that requests for location will be respected as long as you make them in advance. Then, enjoy your Perdido Key vacation!
